What did #Strikeforce #DREAM and the #UFC have in common this weekend?! @tigermuaythai
…They all had Tiger Muay Thai alumnus competing on their cards this past weekend!! Guess it proves that to be the best…you have to train with the best.
Joe Ray fought Christopher Spang of Sweden at the Strikeforce Challengers 19 event in Vegas. A multiple time guest of Tiger Muay Thai, Joe Ray lost a decision, in a bout that showed very high level Muay Thai striking. Having fought several times for Tiger Muay Thai, Joe Ray was a member of the 2010 Martial Combat team that went 11-3 on the ESPN STAR Sports broadcast events. Starting slow, Joe Ray had a difficult time getting inside the long reach of Spang, before eventually picking up the pace in the third round. Losing 2 rounds on the judges score cards, it was a disappointing performance, but one Joe Ray will grow as a fighter from.
Nova Uniao Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Yan Cabral kept his undefeated MMA record with his impressive 2nd round submission victory over Japanese MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba. Heading out to Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Phuket to prepare for the DREAM 17 bout, Cabral continues to establish himself as one of the top Welterweight prospects in the world.
Mark Hunt headed out to Tiger Muay Thai with Brian Ebersole to jump start his UFC 135 training camp. The American Top Team fighter is a K-1 legend, however he showed improved ground skills with his dominate decision win against Ben Rothwell. Hunt was an instant favorite around Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Phuket with amazing work ethic and willingness to learn from everyone.
Also appearing on the UFC 135 fight card was TMT alumni Jamie Te Huna…who picked up an impressive 47 second Ko win against Brazilian standout Ricardo Rombero.
**To be the best you have to train with the best**—and this weekend CLEARLY showed that Tiger Muay Thai is one of the best training facilities in the world…with trainers to match.
BOOM…wonder who the next UFC, Strikeforce, or DREAM veteran coming to Tiger Muay Thai is going to be :P
