What a COCK!!!

This video is from Ubon Ratchathani Thailand, but Thai’s all over the country enjoy cock fighting.  Technically “Fighting Cocks” isn’t illegal in the country–however “gambling” is (obviously why they are fighting two chickens to begin with).

At the local shopping center they have magazines about Muay Thai, Football (soccer), Television, and Cock Fighting!!

I was amazed the first time I saw how brutal the pictures in the magazines were.  The roosters fight with razor blades attached to their wings and feet, clawing at one another until one of them refuses to “scratch”—or dies. Let’s just say these photos reminded you of one of the “SAW movies”

Not the most human sport–but in its defense–the chicken that loses is usually used as food—so it’s death while inhuman, isn’t just for the “sake of sport”.

My Neighbor fights Roosters–and has invited me to a couple of matches (though I’ve never attended).  Besides their “fighting cocks”—they also have several loose Chickens running around the “soi” (street).  These Chickens love to play (eat) in the trash that builds up in between the local trash pickup services.  I can’t help to think—If I was “eating” these Chickens—I wouldn’t be feeding them “trash”–since moving here…I’m starting to understand the reason people select “Organic meat”.

As inhuman as “cock fighting”, and as disturbing as I find it to allow “your food” to eat out piles of trash—I have to wonder…how bad is it really when compared to the mass chicken farming done in the states!?!?
