Little Ziko!!

The pride of Egypt…came to fight at GFC 4!  Having won his Championship belt and defended it once already, he was required to defend it one more time due to his contract obligations.

Winning and defending his belt under modified rules of 3 minute rounds, and no punches to the head on the ground, Ziko was pressured into accepting a full rules bout of 5 minute rounds, with knees to the head, elbows standing, and GNP to the face on the ground for his final title defense.

Facing an opponent who had been training at Phuket Top Team, and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt with a perfect 2-0 MMA record, to say the ‘Champion’ was the underdog…would be an honest statement.

Working hard, Ziko showed that sometimes hard work beats talent.  We put together a month long training camp, and worked a great game plan to keep the distance and utilize footwork to stay out of the clench, and out of takedown range.  After a few scary headkicks, and staying tough while being mounted, Ziko started putting his hands together Vitor Belfort style!

Impressive win for Ziko who is now 3-0, and officially a ‘free agent’, able to sign a fight contract with any of the leading promotions in the region.

Look for Ziko to continue training his BJJ as he gets set to compete at the Gulf Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Cup Dec. 27th in Kuwait, followed by an upcoming professional boxing match in Cyprus.

Great job Ziko, and a special shout out to Khalid Al Saleh who was on hand to work his corner and help coach him to victory!
