…Tiger Muay Thai…looking to produce homegrown world champion!
Tiger Muay Thai is known for top notch fighters. In the past few years we’ve had Noppadet, Nomphon, Bernueng and Singamanee all fight under the Tiger Muay Thai gym while they were ranked in the top 5 in Thailand for their respective divisions. Even though these fighters trained at Tiger Muay Thai while they continued to retain their championship belts, critics of the gym have refused to give us credit for their success, saying that they were ‘arleady in their prime when they got to Tiger Muay Thai. (tell me again…how’s that a bad thing?!)
When compared to most of the other recognized Muay Thai gyms in Thailand, Tiger Muay Thai is new, being around less than a decade. With TMT’s short timeline we have already been able to attract and recruit several current Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Champions, while we are waiting for the young talent to blossom.
Jan. 1st, 2011 will be a special day for Tiger Muay Thai as our first ‘homegrown fighter’ will compete for a World Championship. KoK Yodbuaphet a 16 years old ‘blue chip prospect’ has been under the guidance of Kru’s Goi, Gae, Yod, and all of the other master instructors at Tiger Muay Thai since he was a small child. After stringing together an impressive display of wins around the country of Thailand he is now competing for the Omnoi Stadium Championship. Omnoi Stadium, while not as famous as Lumpinee or Rajadamnern is considered one of the most prestigious fighting venues for all of Muay Thai. K-1 legend Buakaw’s crowning Muay Thai achievement, so far, has been becoming Omnoi stadium champion. Win or Lose Kok Yodbuaphet will be fighting with the heart of a Champion and we are proud to say he is the first kid that the gym has groomed into becoming a World Champion.
