This weekend #Badblood @UFC presents @JonnyBones VS @DC_MMA

Finally!  January 3rd it is going down! Undisputed LHW World Champion Jon Bones Jones is going to step into the Octagon to face Daniel Cormier in a battle of Unbeaten Superstars.

This fight has so much hype around it, and legitimately has two guys facing each other that genuinely do not like one another.  Can you say Black on Black Crime!?

at 15-0 Cormier a former Olympic Wrestler is arguably the most credentialed wrestler to step into the Octagon since the days of Dan Severn. While competing at Heavyweight (under 265lbs) Cormier picked up wins against Frank Mir, Josh Barnett, Antonio Silva, and Roy Nelson before dropping down to LHW and absolutely mauling an aging Dan Henderson.

Officially listed as 20-1, Jon Jones only loss came via DQ in a fight he was absolutely dominating when he landed downward elbow from the mounted position on All American wrestler Matt Hamill back in 2009.  Since that time Bones has been on a tear defeating the likes of Alexander Gustaffson, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, and former training partner Rashad Evans.

This is an exciting matchup for the fans as DC has the wrestling credentials to put Bones on his back, and rinse and repeat his way to victory.  Training out of the historic AKA academy in San Jose, DC has had the opportunity to work with Cain Velasquez and King Mo in preparation to this fight, which should ensure his wrestling is sharp and prepared for the difficulties that the much taller/younger Jon Jones is going to present.

While I believe Jones is younger, more athletic, and possesses more tools—I also think the TIME IS NOW for Daniel Cormier, and if he is going to win a UFC Championship, it is going to have to happen Jan 3rd.  It will be interesting to see how DC is going to be able to counter the reach/height difference of Jon Jones–however with the fact that Cormier has competed most of his career at Heavyweight, with great success against some of the top legends of the sport, I suspect he is going to be the stronger of the two athletes, and be fully prepared to bring the fight to Jones wherever he feels he needs to take it to win.

It will be interesting to see if Jones is going to come out and try to outwrestle DC, like he did in his Chael Sonnen fights.

Who do you think wins the fight?
