The MMA team at TMT goes 3-0 this weekend wins in Pattaya and Malaysia!!!
Congratulations to the boys. Matt Merria, Justin Governale, and Ngoo Ditty all picked up impressive wins this weekend.
Matt and Justin fought in Pattaya for the ‘Thai Fight’ MMA promotion promoted by Bobby Gerrits and Master Toddy.
Justin competing as an amateur faced a Thai opponent with over 100 full rules professional Muay Thai bouts who is a former top 10 ranked Rajadamnern Stadium fighter. Utilizing his wrestling, Governale took the fight to the ground after taking a high kick to the head. Once the match got to the floor, Governale dominated the position until a scramble where he sunk in a 10 finger choke picking up the submission win.
Matt Merria, a former student of WEC vet Muhsin Corbbrey faced Russian Boxing Olympic hopeful Yuri Solvenko in one of Master Toddy’s professional fights. After an Intentional knee to the head of a downed opponent, the Russian had a point deducted. Seconds later when Matt returned the favor with a knee of his own to the downed Yuri Solvenko—>the Ref stopped the bout to deduct a point from Matt…and to explain to both fighters that any further knee’s to the head on the ground would result in a DQ. Looking to advance the fight, Matt took the bout to the floor where he eventually secured a heel hook submission in the 2nd round.
…Both Matt and Justin had their fights televised on life Tv in Pattaya.
***Fighting in Malaysia, Thailand’s top MMA fighter Ngoo Ditty faced former WMC Muay Thai Champion Abbas Ahmadi of Iran***…Showcasing that he is in fact a ‘Mixed Martial Artist’—Ngoo a BJJ Blue Belt scored an early double leg takedown, before passing the guard and taking the back–securing the RNC submission victory a little over 2 minutes into the first round.
Congratulations to all 3 of the fighters. Each one of them put in an impressive training camp and with the help of Team Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Phuket…proved that ‘Train Hard–Fight Easy’ is the only way to compete. Thanx to Wiktor Svensson for his coaching during training camp–he was in Malaysia for Ngoo’s victory.
