Off to the torture racks #toweroflondon!!!

While in London last weekend, I got a chance to check out the Tower of London or ”Her Majesties Royal Palace and Fortress”.

Founded in 1066, the Tower of London had been around about 400 years before Christopher Columbus decided to find the ”new world”

Having served as a royal residence, William The Conqueror, Richard the Lionheart, Henry III, and Edward I are some of the royalties that called it home.

Used as a prison grounds, where medieval tortures occurred, the complex is thought to be haunted by spirits. A significant building in English history, the tower served as an armory, a treasury, home of the royal mint, and home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.

Known as one of London’s most popular tourist attractions it is on the World Heritage Site list.

The thing I found most fascinating about the Tower of London was how something 400 years older than the discovery of North America, was surrounded by new architect and state of the art construction, but maintained a sense of preserved history and British history.

While at the London Tower I was lucky enough to see a shift change of one of the Scott’s Guards. It was cool witnessing this as it really showed the pride put into the position, and the honor each soldier must feel with their role. In the video you will notice the amazing 72 story skyscraper in the background known as the LONDON SHARD. This would be an example of what I meant by state of the art construction. Unlike Rome, London really has a sense of embracing the new with the old…which only added to the amazing feeling of the city.

…Gotta Admit…It was cool seeing the Crown Jewels with my crown Jewel!!
