My results from @ibjjf Nogi Worlds today @DoorDie @kuwaitmma

Argh!!

I was really hoping to come home with a Gold Medal.  Having won a silver in 2012, I have set the goal of winning my division at the IBJJF Nogi Mundials.

2013 I was unable to compete in the tournament due to my TMZ worthy injury–and this year I spent the training camp in Phuket with Top Team with Black Belt Justin Sidelle in preparation.

Since my injury I’ve done 3 International Grappling Tournaments leading up to the World Championships.

Special thanks to Do Or Die Hyperfly for sponsoring my uniform.  I was wearing their Pro compression pants along with the Hyperfly Fight Shorts.  Unfortunately my IBJJF Rash Guard needed to be changed–but truth be told, I think the American was just getting the IBJJF treatment with the suggestion of changing the rash guard.

The brackets were drawn earlier in the week and I got Commando Group and Alliance BJJ Black Belt Paulo Jose Pinto in the first round.

I knew his wrestling was good, so I wanted to pull guard early– experience and timing showed as Paulo quickly tapped my knee for two points as I pulled guard, giving him the lead which he never gave up winning 2-0 with two advantages.

Paulo went on to have two other tough fights before eventually packing home the 2014 IBJJF NOGI WORLD BLACK BELT MASTER DIVISION gold medal.

Inshallah, I will be back next year–trying to make my way back to the medal stand.
