…Is it really the Holidays!??!
…Saw this GIANT Xmas tree outside Central Festival…the local shopping mall near my house–and it made me realize that Halloween, AND THANKSGIVING have already came and went…without me even realizing it!
In Thailand…no one really celebrates Halloween–and Thanksgiving…is pretty much only a Yank’ holiday…I mean—I don’t think any other countries celebrate stealing the land from the natives?!?!….All joking aside, While I’ve never really celebrated ‘fall harvest’…Thanksgiving has always been a time for family, friends, and food. In Phoenix the weather starts cooling off…and when I was in school the count down to X-mas break was already well underway.
I called my folks the other day…and could tell I was missing out on some good home cooked food–and laughs with loved ones.
The next holiday is Christmas. Thailand is a Buddhist country…and while they are starting to pick up on the ‘commercial opportunities’ that X-mas presents for the shopping centers…most people don’t celebrate the day in the traditional Christmas tree–home cooked dinner–Celebration of Christ…so it never “begins to feel like Christmas…everywhere you go”…lol.
I’m going to be away from my family for the entire holiday season this year…which is always tough…but I guess a sign that I’m ‘growing up’ (hard to believe I’m going to be 28 in a couple weeks)
Gotta stay on my hustle though because 2011 is going to be another big year for MagicalRay and the Tiger Muay Thai gym!
