If #NelsonMandela was an #MMA Fan @onefcmma

Big, Big, Big victory for Vuyisile Colossa at One FC.  Vusy is a guy who I have been a fan of since he first started transitioning from K1 and Muay Thai into the sport of MMA.  When Vusy made his professional debut in MMA, I was actually working the corner of his opponent, John Vargas of San Diego California.

a

From South Africa, Vusy is a very emotional fighter who always wears his countries colors proudly.  With the passing of Nelson Madela this weekend, Vusy dedicated the fight to his countries Icon. Walking out in front of a standing ovation from the crowd,

Vusy is in a league of his own when it comes to striking.  I remember South African superstar DON MADGE telling me when he was young and just starting out training with Vusy…and after watching Vusy beat Yodsanklai in K1, in addition to his impressive performances in Asia…I can honestly say he is something else on the feet.

Improving his record to 7-4, Vusy picked up a Big decision win over Caros Fodor (Yes, same guy who Tommy Yang just lost a decision to).  Fodor is a very tough UFC/STRIKEFORCE Veteran who was looking to get into title contention with an impressive performance.  Showcasing his elite striking, and even mixing in some wrestling Vusy has now positioned himself nicely in the One FC title contention–calling  out champion Aoki after the bout.

Possibly a victim to poor matchmaking early in his career, Vusy has used those bouts to gain valuable experience.  While Lowen Tynanes still owns an impressive win over Vusy, I would like to see him get an opportunity of avenging his 2010 loss to Eduard Folayang.  4 years of fighting and Vusy has made huge improvements, and with the recent victory of Folayang, the bout would be a throwback to many old school Southeast Asian MMA fans who remember the first FOTN performance.
