I like the view from up here #londoneye!!
Been a bit slow with updates on the blog lately…however it was due to some travel!!!
After my BJJ SUMMER CAMP class Wednesday, I hustled home and packed my bags for a quick weekend get away ”across the pond”. As some of you know, Bianca left Kuwait last month and returned to London. She’s already enrolled in the final courses she needs for her personal trainers certifications and has been quickly transitioning to life back in the UK.
While I’m glad to see her accomplishing her goals, and continuing to reach new heights, the move has been a tough transition for me. Having spent nearly everyday with someone and then having to get use to them not being around is difficult enough…add in the support and strength she provided me with during some of the most difficult times of my life, and its been a real learning opportunity full of self reflection, meditation, and personal growth opportunities. To say I miss her would be an understatement.
Having never been to the London, I was excited for the trip. I didn’t know what to expect of the city. While ”Cosmopolitan” I had no idea how international the city really was. Tourist from all over the world, employees from every nation in every shop, people from every corner of Earth literally crowding the streets with sights and sounds attracting your eyes all over the horizon.
The weather was an amazing get away from the blazing heat of Kuwait. I actually got a chance to wear a jacket for a couple of hours…lol. While my Diet suffered terribly during the few days I was away, it was worth it!! I gotta be honest and admit the Soft Serve Ice Cream, Fish & Chips, and Mushy Peas have me craving another British Meal night…lol.—however now that I’m back to Kuwait, it’s back to my diet!
Arriving early evening on Thursday, Bianca had an amazing night planned. We headed down to Waterloo via the train system, and grabbed a couple of drinks on the water, and a ”proppa English” dinner…lol. Enjoying some of the sites, we walked down to the house of parliament and took some pictures with Big Ben, before heading over to the London Eye for Sunset.
Being the day before the ”Summer Solstice” the sun was an amazing Orange color as it set against the backdrop of the London city. For lack of a better term…the sunset was very moving. I felt at peace with life for the first time in quite sometime. Watching the sun dip behind the edge of the world, it felt like everything was in harmony. Holding Bianca’s hand, and getting a gentle kiss from her on the cheek…I quickly forgot about all of the other passengers in our car, and just lived in the moment.
The memory of watching the sunset from the London Eye will be one that even when I am old and grey I will cherish closely to my heart.
Following the Epic sightseeing evening, we headed back on the train, meeting up with our buddy Pedro, and picking up a few glasses of wine before calling it an evening. While I’m sure B, wouldn’t consider the evening a ”date”…I would say this was hands down the best date night I have ever been treated with.
