The opportunity for a title shot against champion Jon Jones will be on the line when Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson meet in the octagon in a battle of top-ranked light heavyweights at UFC on FOX 14 in Stockholm, Sweden on January 24.

Jones defended his UFC Light Heavyweight title with a five-round unanimous decision over No. 2 contender Daniel Cormier earlier this month at UFC 182. The win was Jones’ 12th straight victory and eighth straight successful title defense.

Gustafsson, the No. 1 contender in the Light Heavyweight division, enters the octagon before his hometown faithful sporting a record of 16-2-0, and is pegged as a heavy 10/21 favorite in UFC betting at sportsbooks available through bettingsports.com.

Ranked No. 15 in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, Gustafsson is eager for another shot at Jones after losing a unanimous decision to the champion in a classic battle at UFC 165 in Toronto that garnered recognition as 2013 Fight of the Year.

Gustafsson has fought just once since losing to Jones; recording a second-round TKO victory over Jimi Manuwa last March at a UFC Fight Night event in London.

Jones and Gustafsson were scheduled to meet at UFC 178, but Gustafsson was forced to bow out due to injury and was later replaced by Cormier, whom Jones eventually met this month.

Johnson will enter the octagon in Stockholm as the No. 3 contender in the Light Heavyweight division. The 30 year-old native of Dublin, Georgia, who signed a four-fight deal with the UFC last February, has won his last eight fights, improving his professional record to 18-4, including 12 wins by KO.

Johnson fought on three occasions in 2014, recording first-round KOs over Mike Kyle, at WSOF 8, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, at UFC on Fox: Lawler vs. Brown, to go along with a three-round unanimous decision over Phil Davis, at UFC 172.

Oddsmakers at sportsbooks available through BettingSports.com peg Johnson as a 17/10 underdog to emerge triumphant against Gustafsson, with odds of 7/2 to win by KO, TKO, or disqualification, and a distant 15/1 to win by submission.

Gustafsson is pegged at an attractive 5/2 to claim victory by KO, TK or DQ, and a 9/2 bet to force Johnson to tap out.

In other UFC on FOX 14 action at sportsbooks available through BettingSports.com, Gegard Mousasi, the No. 8 contender in the UFC Middleweight division is pegged as a heavy 1/3 favorite against Dan Henderson, the No. 9 contender in the UFC Light Heavyweight division.

Mousasi is coming off a third-round submission loss to Ronaldo Souza at a UFC Fight Night in Connecticut, back in September, and has lost two of his last three fights to drop his professional record to 35-5-2.

A native of Downey, California, 44 year-old Henderson will be looking for just his second victory in the octagon in his last six fights, after losing by submission to Cormier in their UFC 173 battle, and is pegged as a 23/10 betting longshot to claim victory over Mousasi.
