Gold…religion…in the land of smiles

Wat Chalong temple is considered the pride of Phuket.

According to legend–in the old days the Chinese secret society gangsters started to terrify the locals and they took refuge in the temple.

The superior abbey monk-Luang Poh Cham gathered the locals and encouraged them to fight the gangsters–eventually defeating them.

The king of Thailand king Rama V heard the news and gave the official name of “Wat Chaitaram” to the temple.

This temple is home to a precious gift from the country of Sri Lanka. Proudly displayed inside the building where this pic was taken–The grand Pagoda…there is an actual splinter of Lord Buddha’s bone on display…

It was given to the king of Thailand as a gift by the country of Sri Lanka.

How did you spend your Sunday?!
