With the recent news that One FC has announced the first 3 events for 2012..I gotta admit…I’m getting the bug to get back in the cage and fight again!

The first 3 events are going to be held in 3 different countries…the show going on the road to promote events in Jakarta, Indonesia—Singapore—and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I got the opportunity to support Tiger Muay Thai Alumni Phil ‘NYBA’ Baroni at the inagural One FC event in Singapore, and was impressed.  Close to 10,000 fans showed up at the Singapore Indoor Stadium…and honestly…for the first time in Asia, I felt like MMA was on par with the standards of the big promotions in the United States.

The cool thing about the last One FC event… the arena was full from the first fight to the last.

Often when you go to a UFC fight…no one even shows up until the undercard fights are finished…NOT IN SINGAPORE!! When I showed up the house was already jammed packed with fans, International celebrities, and media!

With the growth of MMA in Asia, and the death of PRIDE in Japan…I guess you can say the fans are STARVED for MMA action!

The thing that sets One FC apart from any other promotion in the region currently…is the amount of professionalism they are organized with.

Nevermind the fact that they have signed the top athletes in the region to multiple fight contracts….

One FC runs the promotion with the same standards an Organization would have to live up to with the Boxing Commission in the states.

Fighters are insured for all injuries that occur during competition (believe it or not…some of the shows out here…expect fighters to pay out of pocket for any injury they sustain during the fight!!!).

They require medical paperwork which includes HIV-Hep tests—

And the Ref/Judges actually have PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.  At the last event they had former PRIDE FC ref Yuji Shimada—along with Japan Legend Matt Hume looking over the fighters safety.—I can not even begin to tell you how many times I’ve been to a show in Asia where the ref/judges didn’t even properly understand the rules or regulations of the sport they are governing.  (Let’s see…how much does a Taekwon Do master really know about Wrestling or Submission fighting?…how are they going to pick a winner of a bout that is fought mostly on the ground?..I’m just sayin)

With all the startup MMA organizations currently in Asia…it’s cool to see a ‘brand’ which actually promotes the fighters–giving them an opportunity to turn the ‘dream of full time fighting’ into an actual professional career in Sports Entertainment.

With the next event scheduled for Feb. 11th, 2012 in Jakarta Indonesia at the Kelaa Gading Sports Mall

…I’m hoping to see several Tiger Muay Thai fighters compete on the event.

TMT fought on the last Battle in Bali MMA event held in Indonesia and has done several grappling tournaments promoted by Synergt BJJ Owner and BJJ Black Belt Niko Han…

I’ve got a ton of friends in the region… and I’m already thinking about this weekend like a kid getting set for his first houseparty with alcohol and no parents…lol! (Can you say BOOMWEEKEND?!)

March 31st, 2012 they’ll be back in Singapore at the Indoor Stadium

And then April 27th One FC will be promoting the first full MMA event in the history of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysiaa at the Negara Stadium. (LOL…I already hear Professor Adam Kayoom begging to get on this event)

I don’t really have much info in regards to which TMT fighters will be competing…or who they will be fighting…but I’m sure over the next few weeks we’ll be negotiating and then the ‘fun’ part of training camp will begin for the boys.

Don’t wait to buy your tixs…if the first event was any preview…the show is gonna sale out…and the event will be a don’t miss SON!
