Boom, Plow, Bang, Goodnight!!!
3 punches that is all it took for Joe Ray to get the KO victory last night at Martial Combat.
Facing one of Evolve Singapore’s MMA instructors–it was obvious the promotion was hoping the home town fighter Zoro Moreira would get an opportunity to showcase his world class grappling skills. Zoro became a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion in 2005 when he won the Mundials. A BJJ Black Belt from Brazil, we knew Joe Ray’s best chances were to keep the bout standing.
As the saying goes…”90% of fights end up on the ground, but 100% of them start standing”. Joe Ray representing Freestyle Fighting Academy in Miami Florida fought for TMT and proved what devastating Muay Thai striking is all about, when he sent Moreira crashing to the mat with a left hook straight right combination just 14 seconds into round 1. Joe Ray is now 3-0 in pro MMA!
Overall TMT went 1-1, with Ian Bone losing to American Matt Delanoit by RNC halfway through round 1. Ian suffered from a severe case of “pink eye” leading up to the fight…which limited the amount of grappling and sparring he got to participate in. It’s unfortunate, he had several Triangle Choke attempts, but just didn’t capitalize. Dropping his professional record to 9-4, Bone will use this loss to motivate himself.
Tonight we have two other fighters competing in Singapore. WEC Vet Muhsin Corbbrey of Champions Training Center and Cyrus Washington. I expect good things from Muhsin!
My Iphone 3g’s doesn’t get service here in Singapore, which is why the updates have been a bit low…I’ll try to get back on and put up something after the fights tonight!
