Talk about a Big weekend of Brazilin Jiu Jitsu. Long time friend Andrew Gardineer built on success of his Bronze medal at the Pan Ams by taking Gold in his division and the Absolute Division of the 2013 Arizona State BJJ Championships.

DREW JITSU spent 6 months teaching for me at Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand when I was running that program, and now he is one of the head grappling instructors at Siege MMA in Arizona.

Also competing this weekend was Khalid Al Saleeh of Kuwait Combat Athletics. Khalid traveled all the way to Monaco to compete in the very first NAGA grappling tournament held there. Cutting weight to make the under 61KG division, Khalid was disappointed to find out he didn’t have any other competitors in his beginner bracket. Moving up to the under 69.9KG beginner division, Khalid received a bye into the finals where he faced a tough opponent who eventually won the match 4-0 as time expired, giving him the brackets silver medal. While still a White Belt in rank, Khalid competed in his fourth Grappling tournamnet, all of which have been International including the USA, PARIS, MONACO, and ABU DHABI. Look for Khalid to continue training hard in preparation to the Grappler’s Quest event coming up Aug. 11th in Amsterdam.
