Bada-bing…Bada-Boom!

Shout out to D~Baucheryfilms for getting Adam Kayoom’s seminar from Friday up on Youtube so fast.  Anyone looking to document their trip while in Thailand…should send him an email and book a filming session—great memento to take home after the trip!

First two-a-day session done.  AM training was good.  Started with some shadow boxing, then worked 3 rounds of sparring.  I lucked out today as Cyrus, Claire, and Don all have fights tonight–and Adam Kayoom leaves tomorrow for his MMA fight.  Which meant I got to work with a few partners who gave me the ability to work a bit.

Following the boxing I did 3 rounds of pad work. 2 were “muay thai” while the last was only boxing.  20 minutes of straight clench sparring with Adam Kayoom…Some bag drills that included alternating kicks with a partner. 3 minutes–low kick, body kick, teep kick, and bag push for both the right and left leg. Finished the class with 300 push ups, 500 situps and some stretching.

For lunch I ate 1 piece of Grill Chicken, brown rice, and steamed veggies.

Around 3:00 I had a protein shake for a snack…and was back to the gym by 4…

This afternoon I started with 3 rounds of 5 minute padwork.  I did two rounds of Muay Thai–finishing the last round with boxing.

Working in with JJ Ambrose for sparring we did a round of both Muay Thai and Boxing before I finished a round of boxing with Brayden Summers.  JJ was on this season of the Ultimate Fighter—but lost in the elimination bout.  He’s a very talented fighter who will probably end up in a big show sooner-than-later…he’s gonna be fighting in Guam next.  This was the first time we’ve sparred…and we both left with a few bumps on the body today.  All in all– good training though…and I’m glad to have him at the gym while I’m looking to get into peak performance. Last 4 weeks are going to be a push.

Following the standup sparring I got in 3 ‘walk through’ rounds with Adam Kayoom.  We worked position and changing out the angles with striking-wrestling-and grappling.  Nothing too heavy–but we ran through 3×5 in the ring at a good working pace–his cardio is going to be good for his fight Friday night at the Legend Fighting Championship in Hong Kong.

One last 5 minute round of ‘clench sparring with takedowns’ and practice was over.  The clench sparring is similar to what we do in Muay Thai, however we add in all takedowns including single and double leg attacks from other Martial Arts.

Dinner was 2 chicken breasts, 2 helpings of steamed veggies, and some brown rice.  I was planning on hitting a run…but was too tired by the time I finished a light dinner.

Time to rinse-recycle-and repeat…tomorrow is another day on the grind.
