…and its time to welcome a new blue belt to the world!

…With all of the work this weekend…I haven’t had a chance to Congratulate James Mabey on his Blue Belt promotion.

James has been training at Tiger Muay Thai for a little over 2 years, but had some previous martial art training before arriving in Phuket.  Due to his hectic work schedule…he usually trains one-on-one in the evenings with one of my purple belt instructors; Wiktor Svennson.  Working as a professional James was recently promoted as a foreign advisor to the Phuket Governor’s office…a position historically reserved for Thai nationals.

Playing a practical joke on him  after his promotion…we set up an obstacle course using gym equipment placed on the mats.   Walking James through the obstacle course while explaining to him that BJJ was a journey of the blind–(really making an excuse to blind fold him)—I instructed to him that he now had to complete a walk through the obstacle course while being blindfolded and only being able to listen to my voice as a means of locating the obstacles in front of him.

…While James was being spun around blindfolded…the rest of the group silently jumped to their feet and started to secretly clear-out the obstacle course.  We all had a good laugh as James tried his best to succeed blindfolded….not realizing that he was ‘mad’ and fighting with the air…lol!

James Mabey join’s; Andreas Hesselback, Mike Hutchison, Chad Hamzeh, Ngoo Ditty, Milkman, and  Brayden Summers as my blue belts.
