All the training is done–the boys are in Singapore.

Well—the training camp is done for the boys fighting at Martial Combat. The MC event is held over two days at the Resorts World Sentosa Island in Singapore.  Broadcast to over 310 million homes in 24 different countries it is good exposure for Mixed Martial Arts in Asia.

Joe Ray is an experienced Muay Thai fighter out of the Freestyle Fighting Academy in Florida.  FFA is home to ADCC vet’s David and Marco Avellan.  He holds a Blue Belt under their ranking and has a professional MMA record of 2-0 including a win by KO on the “big stage” for the STRIKEFORCE promotion.  In a “striker” Vs. “grappler” matchup he will face 2005 BJJ Brown Belt Mundial champion Zorobabel Moreira Jr. of Team Evolve.  Moreira is now a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt teaching in Singapore and has a professional MMA record of 3-0.  Joe Ray will obviously look to avoid the takedown, work the fight back to his feet and try to win with his powerful hands.

Aussie Ian “Hitman” Bone has a professional MMA record of 9-3 and is a veteran of the largest MMA shows “Down Under”.  Having won consecutive fights for the RIZE MMA promotion, he is scheduled to compete for their 170lbs Championship after his battle in Martial Combat.  Ian will have his hands full when he faces American Matt Delanoit.  Delanoit has a 10-10 professional MMA record, but his losses have come against some top level competition in; John Alessio, Josh Neer, Ben Askren, Bobby Voelker, Shamar Bailey, Kevin Burns, and Justin Wieman.  With Delanoit’s last win coming against IFL veteran Ray Steinbiess by toe hold, Ian looks to have a fight on his hands as he faces a tough grappler.

Muhsin Corbbrey of Champions Training Center will also be representing Tiger Muay Thai.  Muhsin is the most accomplished of the four fighters on Team TMT having fought for the WEC and Elite XC promotions.  Corbbrey has a professional record of 14-5 and is very well cross trained.  Muhsin will be facing Chinese World Sanda Champion Wu Cheng jei of China.  Cheng Jei has a 3-0 MMA record, but as is the case with many fighters in Asia it has been difficult to find any verifiable information on him.

Also representing TMT will be Cyrus Washington.  Cyrus is a dangerous Muay Thai striker who has struggled in his transition into MMA.  With International fights in Russia, Uzbekistan, and Australia he has faced tough opposition and has an 0-3 record.  With over 50 pro Muay Thai fights, and being a  veteran of both the King and Queen Cup Muay Thai events he is going to try his best to keep the fight standing against Legacy Gym’s grappling instructor Malik Malawai.  Malik is a very skilled Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple belt with excellent submission grappling abilities.  Having faced tough opposition including; Sengoku veteran Seung Hwan Bang, China’s #1 LW fighter Zhang Tie Quan, and the undefeated Fransino Tirta, Malik has a VERY misleading 0-3-1 professional MMA record.

I’ll be flying out to Singapore early tomorrow morning–and will be giving a Nogi grappling seminar at the Fightworks Asia gym starting at 7:30 PM.  Just like the past event, I will be working as color commentator for the ESPN STAR Sports broadcast.  Fighting for Martial Combat July 15th, I will continue training while I’m gone, returning to Phuket Friday night.  When I arrive I will spend the final 4 weeks training for my Superfight bout.
