A masquerade ball in #kuwait?!

Having been in Kuwait for close to a year now, I’ve heard of these ‘nights’ where the British embassy will host a social.

Truth be told, the American embassy is also rumored to hold these events, however I have no idea how one gets invited.  Trying to solve the riddle, I looked up the US Ambassador to Kuwait, and sent him a message on Facebook introducing myself as an American new to Kuwait, looking to meet other expats and network.  However, I think he must be bombarded with work, because after reading the email, he never sent a reply.–this was several months ago.

Anyways, last night I got invited to attend a fundraising event at the British Embassy.  Fadi, one of my students is a Rugby player and  the Scorpions are a local Kuwait team that organizes an annual masquerade ball.

The event was a ton of fun!

They had a live band, great buffet style dinner, and even offered a few adult drink selections.  Kuwait being a DRY country, this was a bit of a surprise, however the embassy is officially ‘British’ soil.

Hoping I’ll be able to get Bianca into one of these events when she comes to visit next, she is British..lol.
