A fight is a fight…so why shake hands?
I saw this online–and thought it was an interesting video.
The fighters walk to the center of the ring and touch gloves, and immediately after the friendly gesture, one of the fighters throws a huge overhand punch, dropping his opponent. 6 seconds later, the ref is forced to stop the fight.
The worst part of the video is the attitude displayed by the winning fighter—
I always tell my guys…if you want to touch gloves, do it in the back, but when the bell rings–it is time to fight. This video really drives home that point.
I’m curious–what are your guys thoughts on this?…should fighters touch gloves as a sign of respect?–how long after the glove touch should you wait to start fighting?–is it your responsibility to “protect yourself at all times”?
